“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ―Sylvia Plath
Want to venture into new territory by exploring some cool poetry, and earn some points?! You can read, respond to, and recite a poem, and present about the poet of your choice. You can do part, or all of the following project, depending on how many extra credit points you're aiming for.
Email the title and author of your choice to me at: [email protected] so I can approve it. (I will not approve a Shell Silverstein poem. Sorry)! Note: If you want to hear how a poem sounds try clicking on the “Audio and Video” on the left. (Not all of the poems have an audio recording to listen to).
Your presentation must include;
Visual Presentation of Author’s Biography & the poem (one author picture, birth/death, bullet points of major events in poet’s life). This can be presented on a poster board, or on my computer as a powerpoint or keynote presentation, or in some other creative form with my approval. You must include a hand-written or printed copy of the poem for me to put up in class.
You will be expected to turn in three well organized paragraphs THAT YOU WRITE YOURSELF (in other words, you cannot cut & past from another source). These paragraphs will cover: 1) author’s bio in full sentence form, 2) your interpretation, and 3) why you chose the poem. Again, THIS IS NOT A CUT&PASTE from Wikipedia type of job, this is your own writing. Plagiarism will not be accepted.
Want more points? You can add:
Recitation of the poem (2 minutes or less)
Oral Presentation of your interpretation of the poem (1-3 minutes)
Oral Presentation of why you chose this particular poem. (Why does it "speak" to you)? (1-3 minutes)

-REMEMBER TO CITE YOUR SOURCES!! (At the end of the written version of your presentation paste in any website address that you took information from). -You should use at least one of the sites I recommended. -I will be checking Wikipedia to make sure you didn’t plagiarize! Eek! Plagiarism is THEFT!!
